Grass Valley
Grass Valley is nestled in the Sierra Nevada Foothills and is rich in adventure and history, just like its neighboring gold rush towns of Auburn and Nevada City. Downtown Grass Valley is an assortment of chic shops, local beer, wine & food, and community events that people from the surround areas partake in!
There are a number of scenic trail systems throughout the forested areas of Grass Valley and the surrounding Sierra Foothills. My favorite is Empire Mine, a historic mineyard and estate with wonderful gardens that all photographers love. It also has trails that you can hike, ride horses and bikes that wind around the park and across the street.

PARKS IN GRASS VALLEY, CA
Grass Valley has over 108 acres of land dedicated to parks, various trails and 7 developed parks. You can see them all here but these are my favorites:
Empire Mine is my personal favorite for hiking and horseback riding, and also to take my kids to get pictures taken. It is a state-protected mine and park and the site of one of the oldest, richest and deepest gold mines in California. The park consists of 367 mile of historic mine shafts, many of the mine’s buildings, the equisite owner’s home and restored gardens. Fourteen miles of trails meander through the 856 acres of forested land with micro climates that are beautiful during all seasons.
Candon Park is an area favorite as it provides dog run areas, picnic and BBQ, trails, disc golf course, skate park, baseball diamonds, playgrounds, basketball, bocce court, volleyball and more.
Kennedy Ranch has open meadows and a forested hillside with multiple trails. See the wildflowers in April and May and the rich colors in fall.
Memorial park is 7.6 acres and has a swimming pool, an updated playground, basketball court, tennis court, softball field and two pickleball courts. There is also a group BBQ area for summer parties.
